Yoga Therapy is a form of complementary medicine (treatment used in conjunction with treatment by a medical doctor), and is usually prescribed by an MD, chiropractor, or other health care professional. A Yoga Therapist will use techniques from yoga to help people with illnesses and injuries. These techniques can include yoga asanas (poses), breathing exercises, meditation, and diet/lifestyle advice. Since yoga works to balance all aspects of a person, a yoga therapist can be helpful to someone with a condition which might be exacerbated by stress or lifestyle choices.
Emily Mayne graduated from the two year Yoga Therapy program at Loyola Marymount University, and is certified on the 500 hour level with the Yoga Alliance.
